The Collection

467x701_newA 65-page comic book about a Hmong-American 5th grader learning to accept her culture as part of her identity.

On the first day of school, Duab gets assigned a project where she is to research and present on her heritage. Growing up in a predominantly Caucasian community, Duab feels uncomfortable talking about her Hmong background.

Not only does she have to deal with her project, but she also have to help her younger sister Muaj get used to the school food, and host a family reunion party with her mom.

Follow Duab as she manages to balance her school and home life meanwhile uncovering the importance of her culture.

In early 2015, Duachaka created a successful Kickstarter campaign for this project. If you’ve missed the campaign, be sure to support and purchase her book here.
